SGU provides a wide range of facilities for students to get the most out of their study experience while making life at the University as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. Library has a large number of books in all branches of knowledge in English and also other foreign languages.
There is also a unique electronic library with new computer equipment and internet connections. The educational departments are equipped with modern apparatus for training, sets of plastic models and phantoms, complex medical-diagnostic equipment etc.
Students learn with the help of specimens, models or FLMs about the practical components of subjects like anatomy, pathology, microbiology, parasitology and immunology. The facilities in the campus include student hostels, cafeterias, gymnasium, swimming pool, sauna, squash courts, football field and basketball court.
University policy requires that entering medical students live in campus residence hall for their first year. Students will be assigned housing and roommates in order of their acceptance. If a student has a specific roommate request, it should be indicated to the housing coordinator. There are many houses, apartments, efficiency units close to campus. All matriculated students on the Grenada campus must live in approved housing, either on or off campus, at the direction of the university.
Pre medical Program
The pre-medical program curriculum is designed as a firm foundation for the advanced studies offered later in the four-year Doctor of Medicine degree program. The Committee on Admissions, places the applicants into the first, second, or third year of the premedical program according to the applicant’s academic background. Throughout the years of the pre-medical program, there is a strong focus on study skills development and academic enhancement.
The program for the Four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree consists of 157-week curriculum. Most students complete the program in four calendar years.
